Holes 18

hoyo-golfPar four, 319 yards.  Short starting hole with a narrow green protected by a ravine in the front and a sand trap on the back.  Fairway is wide and easy to hit but the difficulty surrounding the green makes the second shot interesting.  Hit enough club in order to avoid the ravine, wind is in the golfer’s face.

hoyo-golfPar four, 438 yards.  One of the most beautiful holes in Costa Rica.  This long par four has a narrow fairway protected by OB on the right and a ravine all along the left side of the fairway.  The look from the tee is very intimidating, and the nerves of the golfers are tested.  The green is protected by a sand trap on the left and a ravine in front.  The hole plays a little bit uphill so hit one more club to compensate for the distance.

hoyo-golfPar four, 466 yards.  This is the monster hole of the front nine.  The longest par four on the course has a fairway protected by a ravine on the left side of the landing area and OB on the right side.  The second shot is long and uphill to a green that has two large sand traps on the left.  The green has to be approached from the right side where the design allows a shot hit to the right to feed towards the green.

hoyo-golfPar five, 585 yards.  This par five has a wide landing area protected only by OB on the right side.  The fairway slopes from right to left.  The second shot has to be placed carefully because the third shot is uphill and into a narrow green.  Sand traps come into play for the second and third shots.  The key to this hole is club selection for the third shot.  To make it even tougher, the green slopes away.

hoyo-golfPar three, 209 yards.  A large lake that protects the right side of the green guards the only bunker less hole on the golf course.  The tee shot is downhill which makes it really fun, as long as you do not see your ball splash in the lake.   The green has two tiers and is huge.  The left side of the green has a few mounds that will sometimes benefit errant shots with a bounce towards the green.

hoyo-golfPar four, 443 yards.  Another difficult par four that looks simple off the tee as the player looks into a wide fairway.  A lake and hazard on the right and a large bunker on the left guard the fairway.   It is a dogleg to the right and up the hill, which require the players to hit one or two extra clubs.  The green has several slopes and is guarded by two bunkers on the right side.  From the top of this green players can get a look at the ocean through the vegetations.

hoyo-golfPar five, 542 yards.  This impressive par five requires two good placement shots in order to allow your self a shot third.  Unreachable for most players, 13 sand traps and a large lake that comes in play on the left side of the fairway guard this dogleg left.  Long hitters will be tested with a shot to the green in two that requires a second shot of about 210 yards into the wind and over water.

hoyo-golfWe have arrived to the most interesting green of the course.  This par three is characterized by the unique shape and embankment that is found on the right front part of the green.  A ravine guards the left side of the green.  This should help the player to favor the right part of the green and use the slope to get the ball close to the hole.  Players need to be careful because two sand traps guard the right side of the green and sand shots downhill and towards the ravine are deadly.

hoyo-golfPar four, 422 yards.  This final hole on the front nine has a wide fairway guarded by a sand trap on the left and a lake on the right side.  From the tee, the view is spectacular with the clubhouse in the background.  The green is large and offers several interesting pin placements. The hole is straight away and the second shot is uphill so take one extra club to compensate the elevation. Keep your shots on the left side of the fairway and on the left side of the green.

hoyo-golfPar four, 446 yards.  This is a difficult par four dogleg left, heavily guarded by lots of trouble.  From the tee it looks pretty, but one bad shot can ruin the hole.  Off the tee you have to keep the ball on the right side of the fairway in order to have an easier shot into the green.  A ravine on the left side, hazard on the right side, and a ravine about 130 yards from the green guard the green.  This is one of the toughest greens to approach, and still get close enough to have a birdie try.

hoyo-golfPar three, 189 yards. Very scenic par three guarded by bunkers on the right side and a double tier green.  Predominantly played into the wind, this hole requires a precise shot into either of the two levels of the green.  The only way to approach the green is by air, the terrain will not allow a ball to roll up.

hoyo-golfPar four, 420 yards.  Argued as one of the most spectacular holes on the course, #12 is always exciting to play.  The tee boxes are located on top of a hill; the shot is hit into a fairway with a drop of about 100 ft. from the tee.  It is a dogleg right with the fairway surrounded by the forest on the left and a hazard on the right.  Any shots from the fairway will require a player to use one more club because of the slim elevation of the green, which is guarded, by bunkers on the right.  Players can also play a roll up or bump and run to the left side of the green.  Get your camera out for this one!!

hoyo-golfPar five.  521 yards.  This hole is long and straight away.  Avoid the OB on the left side and you will be OK.   Fairway bunkers have been strategically placed and cause a lot of trouble for players of all levels.  For long hitters, 2 bunkers are located about 270-280 yards off the tee and this makes the landing area really small.  As the players get close to the green, the fairway slopes to the left.  The green has a few undulations, which makes putting fun.

hoyo-golfPar four, 382 yards.  This is a short hole but difficult to place the ball on the fairway and tough to hold the ball on the green in the second shot.  Off the tee two large bunkers come into play on the left side of the fairway.  The ideal placement of the tee shot is right center of the fairway.  Players are left with a shot of about 120 yards to a flat green that is tough to hold with any type of shot that comes in.  Playing to the middle of the green should allow players of all levels a putt for birdie.

hoyo-golfPar four, 445 yards. This is one of the most difficult holes of the course according to our guests.  From the tee the fairway moves a little to the right and is guarded by a large ravine on the right side of the fairway.  The look into the fairway is very intimidating as a large bunker also guards the right side and the hazard on the right. The second shot will be long and into an elevated green that is severely sloped.  Favor the left side of the green on your approach shot.

hoyo-golfPar four, 413 yards.  This hole is very difficult off the tee since it is guarded by water on the right, hazard on the left and more water about 90 yards from the green.  The tee shot is crucial because it will decide the outcome of the hole.  The fairway is narrow and will test your nerves.  A nice feature of this hole is the beach located a few yards behind the green.  Be aware of a deep bunker on the left side of the green.  Look for some birds on the small island to the right of the green.

hoyo-golfPar three, 134 yards.  This short hole catches more golf balls in its lake than any other.  Club selection is obviously the key to playing this hole.  The water in front of the green is intimidating, and a pin placement on the right side of the green will test your nervous system.  The prevailing wind is from left to right, towards the water.  This narrow green has 3 tiers.  Take a look at the ocean before hitting your tee shot.

North Pacific

pafico-norteIt is the sunniest part of Costa Rica, with a succession of beautiful beaches that are ideal to relish under the sun. Besides being a white-sand beach destination it is a region that also includes a vast expanse of areas hosting various ecosystems, volcanoes, towns and monuments where guests can enjoy many activities.

Most of this region comprises the province of Guanacaste, which is one of the cultural and historic revelations since pre-Columbian times.

A very important aspect is that Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport is located in Liberia, which makes things much easier when traveling to this area.

Guanacaste offers golf courses and upscale hotels with splendid panoramas and world-class facilities to grant a unique golf experience.
